BUILDING BRANDS FOR SPACE

When man first landed on the moon, the UAE was little more than a federation of tribes. In less than 50 years, it has achieved the near-impossible.

We are honored to have been a part of the UAE Space story from a time when the UAE didn’t even have its own space agency.

From strategically guiding the transition of space-related work streams out of the Emirates Institute for Advanced Science to branding the nation’s space centre, to presenting the strategy behind the Emirates Mars Mission, we have been honored to participate in the UAE’s journey into a space-going nation.

MISSION TO SPACE

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre has been established to develop research, projects and studies within the space sector. We wanted the brand narrative and logotype to embody courage and discovery — rooted in the UAE's vision for the future of space exploration. A symbol for a national movement needs have the ability to signal change and inspire minds, well beyond the borders of a nation, to tell a critical story.

DESIGN RATIONALE

The horizon of Earth, which glows when visible from the lower orbit, is the point of view of humans looking outwards into the unknown — the limitless possibilities of discoveries yet to be made. We believe this ‘edge’ is hugely symbolic of the divide between human curiosity and knowledge.

One of the key mandates of the centre will be the preparation and implementation of UAE probe exploration mission to Mars. Expected to reach Mars in 2021, the programme is the first by an Arab, Islamic country, and it will be executed by the UAE Space Agency with support of international partners.

INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION

After rebranding the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, we developed a global narrative to inspire the next generation of astronauts in the UAE, conceived a crowd-sourced campaign to name to mission, architected and produced a keynote address to share the vision of hope, built the story of the scientific experiment designed and executed by an all-Emirati team, and announced the launch timeline for the first mission to Mars by the Arab World and one of only six Mars missions globally in 2020.
